The first episode of the new broadcast series “Algorithmic Justice,” presented by Attorneys Celil Aktaş and Kübra Keskin Ökmen for the Istanbul Bar Association IT Law Commission, was published, titled “The Use and Pitfalls of Artificial Intelligence in the Legal Profession.” The program addressed the legal responsibilities of lawyers who use generative artificial intelligence tools when submitting fake court decisions created by these tools to the courts, in light of sample cases from the United States and the United Kingdom. Professional rules of conduct concerning artificial intelligence from Bar Associations in these countries, the concept of AI hallucination, and other resulting professional errors were also examined. Subsequently, the disciplinary and criminal liability of a lawyer, should similar situations occur in Turkey, was discussed in terms of the relevant articles of the Turkish Penal Code and the professional rules of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations.
