Internet and Media Law

İnternet ve Medya Hukuku

With the digitalization and widespread use of social media today, the flow of information has accelerated, and the influence of mass communication tools has increased more than ever before. In addition to traditional media such as television, radio, newspapers, and magazines, websites and social media platforms have also become an integral part of mass communication. New media technologies, in particular, have turned individuals’ passive position in the information flow into an active one, making it possible for everyone to be an information source.

Everyone has the right to disseminate their thoughts and receive news from the outside world. All rules relating to the exercise of freedom of expression, legal disputes, and crimes committed through mass communication tools are the subject of Media Law. With the widespread adoption of the internet and its convergence with all media, specialized rules in this area have increased and gained importance. Crimes committed over the internet, the removal of content on the internet, internet domain name disputes, or violations of personal rights carried out via the internet are the subject of Internet Law.

As Celil Aktaş Law Firm, we represent our clients in investigations and criminal cases related to crimes committed through the press or social media, and in compensation lawsuits in cases of violation of personal rights through publication. Furthermore, we operate to ensure our clients can effectively exercise their rights in all processes related to mass communication law, such as requesting the blocking of access to websites or the removal of content, raising objections to these decisions, filing complaints with the Press Council, and submitting requests for a retraction (tekzip).
